¡Buenos dias! An anemic north pulse of 10-12 mph at arond 12:30 at Rasta yesterday lasted only about 15 minutes, then winds shifted quickly to easterly. A satellite pass yesterday afternoon showed the north background flow was only around 5 knots….substantially lower than several of the model forecasts, so the east flow easily overwhelmed it. The forecast for today looks more optimistic, as the majority of model forecasts show ample north flow returning, and infrared satellite loops show a mostly sunny day ahead. Similar background north flow is forecast to continue on Friday, but models show substantial high cloud cover will move in and will partially dampen our local thermal. For now, I’ll be optimistic that strong mid-April filtered sun will be enough to bring us a rideable day. Model forecasts continue to show solid north background flow Saturday and Sunday, and with sunny skies expected, we should see a good thermal boost each day as well. While the background flow will likely weaken on Monday, enough should remain to give us another rideable day. Tuesday will likely be a transition day, with marginal winds expected as the background flow continues to weaken, with only light onshore breezes expected on Wednesday.
