Wind – February 5, 2026

¡Buenos dias! An Oceansat satellite pass around midnight measured NNW winds of 10-15 knots just east of Cerralvo. Infrared satellite loops early this morning showed abundant mid-level clouds over our region, but model forecasts are in good agreement that the clouds will thin by around midday and should leave us with a mostly sunny afternoon. With solid NNW background flow and ample sunshine this afternoon, we should see our wind machine in fine form. Model forecasts show a narrow E-W oriented ridge of high pressure just to our north will likely remain nearly stationary through this weekend and into next week, with just enough north background flow continuing through at least Tuesday. While some mid to high-level clouds will likely stream overhead Friday and Saturday, we should see enough filtered sun each day to trigger our local thermal. Models show full sunshine returning on Sunday and continuing into the middle of next week, so we will likely see significant thermal boosts each afternoon.
