¡Buenos dias y feliz año nuevo! Satellite-derived NW winds of around 10 knots were noted around midnight just east of Cerralvo, and all of the most recent numerical model runs show the background flow will increase a bit today. The western edge of the dense cloud cover we experienced recently will clear our area early this morning leaving sunny skies to jump start our local thermal. Surface high pressure centered over the 4-corners region of the U.S. will remain essentially stationary through the next several days, with solid north…northwest background flow likely continuing over BCS through at least Tuesday. We will see some thin, high clouds at times from Friday on, but at this point it looks like the cloud cover will be thin enough to allow our local thermal to work its magic each day.
