No Más Basura Second Community Cleanup Day of 2018

No Más Basura Organizes Community Cleanup Day

January 12, 2018 — Some 130 area students joined dozens of other community volunteers last Friday to clean up trash that litters our beautiful towns. Hundreds of bags of trash and recyclables were removed from along streets and public places.

The students and volunteers met at the baseball stadium and formed groups that were dispatched to the four-corners of our towns. Volunteers wore special t-shirts for the occasion. They were also provided with gloves, water and trash bags. Area residents who also wished to participate were encouraged to clean up their neighborhoods and leave filled bags on the curb for pick up.

Trash and recyclables were separated at the baseball stadium at the end of the event. The trash was picked up by the city; the recyclables—plastic, glass, aluminum, metal cans and cardboard—will be recycled appropriately.

Lunch was provided for the student workers. Generous donations from the following 41 area businesses paid for lunch and for the t-shirts, gloves and other Clean Up Day expenses:

No Más Basura is a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to helping keep our communities beautiful and healthy. To volunteer, please attend NMB’s Wednesday meetings, 9 a.m., at Dalaney’s.

Everyone is invited to take advantage of the recycling program, Thursday mornings, 8-11, at its new location across from the North Farmer’s Market.
